Doctor
Schaefer’s life experiences make him uniquely qualified to
work with employers and employees to manage all workers compensation
injuries and issues. Marcus Schaefer was born and spent his first
18 years in the small town of Chester, Montana. This town of about
1000 people, was the county seat and home to the school system,
court, detention center and government similar to Moncks Corner.
His mother and father owned and operated a general store there for
over 60 years.
He
began working in his father’s store at an early age. He also
worked during the summers and school years of high school, college
and medical school. His diverse work experience helps him understand
both the employer and the employee perspective of a work injury.
Dr. Schaefer worked the production line in a sawmill, shoveled hot
asphalt in a pavement crew and operated heavy equipment in highway
construction. Working fast food, applying agricultural pesticides,
refuse collection and truck driving have given him insight that
few doctors have about the day to day working world.
Dr.
Schaefer is specially trained and has the experience to know how
to think through and manage injuries from beginning to end. This
provides the best opportunity for overall cost management, medical
care management and insurance experience modifier improvement.
A work
injury often can be managed as first aid to reduce OSHA recordable
injuries and reduce experience modifiers.
Post-offer/pre-placement
physical examination and drug screening lowers accident rates and
insurance rates.
The
expert staff of the Industrial Medical Center will keep you informed
about the status of your injured worker.
Working
